About

Personal Intro

My main interests are photography, sports (particularly motorsports), gaming and following the technology industry. The motorsport obsession kind of came out of no where. My Dad sat me and my bro down on the couch with him as kids to watch the F1 races each Sunday. At the time I thought it was boring and didn’t really enjoy seeing Michael Schumacher winning almost every race. A couple of years ago, I randomly decided to watch the first race of 2009 and was instantly hooked. From there, it’s gone from just F1 to Rally, MotoGP, Isle of Man TT, WTCC, Le Mans, the Dakar and most recently NASCAR, among others. Even going so far as renting season recap DVDs from all of these and more to catch up on years I’ve missed out on up until now.

I know it’s bad for the planet, and I wish these sports could be better for the planet while still making a lot of noise, but I don’t know how much better it can get in the short to medium term, which is unfortunate. However, there’s just something about it that keeps me hooked. At least I don’t drive myself, so I’m making some small personal contribution. Maybe I’ll get an electric scooter one day or something like that.

I used to like web design and I spent a considerable amount of my free time while I was at school working on that hobby. Now, I’ve moved on to be far more interested in the content itself as opposed to the frame a website provides. I love writing and expressing an opinion. I think blogging is an incredible tool to allow anyone amazing freedom of speech.

I like to be creative but have always struggled with drawing, painting, sculpting, music and practically all other forms of traditional artistry. Web design used to be my outlet for my creative energy, and now it’s taken up by taking photos and blogging.

Recently I started using my tumblr account at ctill.me as my personal blog / online scrapbook so now I use this site more for my more well-thought-out blog posts. Over on my other site you’ll find more clippings from sites, videos, photos and short thoughts on things.

Site History

Until recently, this site used to be hosted at 3dgalaxy.net. You may be wondering what this blog has to do with 3D or galaxies.

The name originated from years ago when I got into VRML (Virtual Reality Modelling Language) and I started making lots of 3D content. I enjoyed making unrealistic space stuff, hence choosing 3Dgalaxy.org as my domain. I made that site into a community with 3D chat, message boards and things. It was a pretty interesting idea and I managed to pull it off on a low budget, which I was quite proud of.

When I experimented with new ideas, I would make a a new section of the site, and eventually created a portal page which branched off to all the sub-sections, including the old version of this blog at 3dgalaxy.org before I moved it here.

3DGalaxy.org is now expired since all it did was redirect here. I decided it wasn’t worth keeping it online. It’s now part of my growing portfolio of design. The 3DGalaxy name stuck even though it didn’t really mean anything anymore, remaining my blog title until I decided to simplify things and just use my name from March 2012 onwards.
